Lulworth Cove

Tickets & Car Parking

The Lulworth Estate looks after and maintains Lulworth Cove and there is no entry charge for visiting the landmarks here. Parking charges do apply all year round. Funds raised from this helps to keep the area tidy, clean and safe for our visitors.

Opening Times 

Lulworth Cove is open all year round. Overnight parking is permitted in the car park, but no camping is allowed.

Facilities

The Visitor Centre is open daily (except for Christmas Day) from 10am to 4pm. The toilets are opened at the same time. Additional toilets (managed by Purbeck District Council) are available on the left hand side as you walk down to the Cove.

Durdle Door

Opening Times

Durdle Door is open to the public all year round, with no access to the CAR PARK permitted after 4pm in winter, and 10pm in summer.

29th October 2018 – 31st March 2019  |  4pm close

1st April 2019 – 27th October 2019  |   10pm close

28th October 2019 – 29th March  |   4 pm close

30th March 2020 – 25th October 2020  |  10pm Close

From 26th October  |  4pm close

No overnight camping is allowed in the car park, or on the beach at Durdle Door.

Facilities

Refreshments and  souvenirs can be be bought in Durdle Door Corner, next to the Car Park. Toilet facilities are available at the entrance to the Car Park.

Lulworth Castle & Park

Tickets & Parking Charges 

Pay & Display parking (£3 per vehicle all day) allows access to the Park & woodland walks, children’s playground and picnic areas.

There is a separate admission price for entry to Lulworth Castle, the Castle lawns and the Chapel:

  • Adults £6
  • Children (4-15 years) £4
  • Under 4’s Free

Entry is free of charge to English Heritage** & Historic House Association Members
**Corporate Memberships to English Heritage are not valid at this attraction including Cadw
* English Heritage & Historic House memberships are not valid at special events such as ‘Easter at Lulworth’ or ‘Spooky Fun’

Facilities

  • Disabled access to the Castle via lift to the right of the Castle steps. For disabled parking please drive around to the side of the Castle.
  • Toilets (including Baby Change) available in the Courtyard and in the Castle.
  • The Castle Tearoom serves homemade cakes, cream teas, hot and cold drinks and souvenirs and is open from 10.30am until 5pm on days the Castle is open.
  • Playground

Opening Times & Dates

The Castle & Park is typically open Sunday to Friday (Closed Saturdays) from Easter to December. It opens at 10.30am until 5pm, with last entry one hour before closing.

Lulworth Castle, Chapel and grounds are CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC on SATURDAYS.

There are additional occasions throughout the year when we close the Castle for events or alter the admission charges including the following days:

The Castle closes for the winter on the 21st December 2018 and reopens on Sunday 31st March 2019. The park remains open Sunday to Friday over the winter.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome into the Park, but must remain on leads due to the livestock. Only assistance dogs are allowed into Lulworth Castle, the Chapel and Church.

The Lulworth Ranges & Tyneham Village

The Lulworth Ranges are part of the AFV (Armoured Fighting Vehicles) Gunnery School, an important training establishment of the British Army. 

They include the coast from west of Kimmeridge Bay to east of Lulworth Cove, as well as the village of Tyneham, Worbarrow Bay and a number of other walking routes. For operational and safety reasons, access to the ranges is restricted to specific times.

Opening Times

The Lulworth range walks and Tyneham Village are open to the public most weekends when no firing is taking place:

  • Tyneham school and Tyneham church exhibitions – 10am to 4pm
  • Gates to the range walks – 9am on Saturday to 8am on Monday
  • Elmes Grove gate (allows vehicle access to Tyneham Village) – daily 9am to dusk

In addition to weekends, they are typically open through public holidays.
