Woodland Walks

There are several walks around the park. Walk Guides can be purchased at the Castle to help you find your way.

Bowling Green Wood formally known as Conygar Wood is an ancient woodland that once formed part of the medieval deer-park and is known to have existed since before the C15th.

It is highly valued for its magnificent specimen trees, diverse flora and abundance of unusual lichens.

It has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest by English Nature.

There is a children’s playground located within the woodlands opposite the Castle entrance.
