Starting the Year with Award Success

We are very proud of what our adventure learning team, ’Lulworth Outdoors’ has achieved over the past few years, with the team committed to providing high quality, relevant and well-rounded experiences for all ages.

After winning Gold for best ‘Learning Experience’ at the 2018 Dorset Tourism Awards, Lulworth Outdoors went on to achieve Silver for the same award at the South West Tourism Awards, held earlier this year at Bristol Aerospace. The team were justly rewarded in a category with such tough competition!

All experts in their own fields, the small team has over 160 years of experience between them and a real passion for the benefits of outside learning. The judge’s overall comment was that Lulworth Outdoors provide a “really professional and excellent experience”. The team scored impressively in areas of; accessibility and inclusivity, efforts to remain environmentally responsible, ethical and sustainable (REST), and of course, the ‘WOW Factor’! James Weld, Chairman of the Lulworth Estate said, “both the award and recognition are well deserved and we’re proud of their fantastic work for the Lulworth Estate.”

Also this year, the Visitor Services team attended the British Parking Awards at the Royal Lancaster, London and were nominated finalists for two categories; ‘The Front Line Award’ and ‘Parking Team of the Year’. The awards recognise the nationwide leading examples of car park management, enforcement, design and team work.

Our Visitor Services team engage with drivers and the general public as a part of their day-to-day activities and winning ‘The Front Line Award’ has meant that the team have been recognised for their excellent customer service, communication skills and community engagement. James Weld commented, “we are again extremely proud of how hard our teams are working to provide the best experience for visitors and locals to this area. The Visitor Services team are another prime example of this hard work.”

The car parks at Lulworth support much of the Estate with money raised from parking funding the upkeep of this beautiful stretch of Jurassic coastline including, visitor services (health and safety, facilities, toilets, footpath maintenance, access) and our conservation and education programmes, which Lulworth Outdoors are central to.

The Lulworth Estate was one of the first estates to open to the public and it’s fantastic to receive such recognition for the continued work towards creating an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.
