Rangers

The stretch of Dorset coastline between White Nothe in the west and Warbarrow in the east has been owned and managed by the Lulworth Estate since 1641. The Estate is managed in an environmentally sensitive way, maintaining a balance between conservation of the environment, the local economy and social structure, and the needs and demands of the visiting public.

The Lulworth Estate Ranger Service was established in 1995 to maintain and enhance the coast for visitors and people who live or work here.

Three full time rangers work to provide the following services:-

  • Access and recreation facilities, including footpaths, stiles and gates.
  • Care of the countryside from hedgerows and dew ponds to grasslands.
  • Field studies and education for all.
  • Advice and liaison with the public and outside organisations.
  • The rangers also react to everyday issues from dolphin sightings to beach litter.

This service is largely funded by income from the pay and display car park at Lulworth Cove. Please support us in safeguarding the coast for the future.
