The 2004 summer season brings The Blues Band back to the stunning outdoor venue of Lulworth Castle. Once quoted as saying "Blues is not a fashion. The blues is a tide; it flows, it ebbs", band members Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Gary Fletcher and Rob Townsend formed in 1979 simply to play some blues for 'beer money'. Now, they are reputedly the greatest exponents of the blues in the UK with sell-out performances wherever they go.

Performing a distinguished procession of Blues Band material, Lulworth Castle will play host to a powerful musical and production zenith on this, their 25th Anniversary tour. Audiences will be treated to a meticulously assembled collection of original material - guaranteed to delight! The Blues Band preserves part of our cultural heritage - namely solid, heads-down British R 'n' B.

The evening will also bring a wealth of local talent to complement The Blues Band, opening with the national award winning Purbeck School Big Band.

" We are delighted to welcome "The Blues Band' back to Lulworth", said James Weld, General Manager of the Lulworth Estate. "and we are particularly pleased that exceptional local talent such as the Purbeck School Big Band and Ben Waters will be performing at this blues extravaganza, bringing generations of blues and homegrown talent to the stage."

The line up continues with Ben Waters who is widely acknowledged as one of the most exciting piano players in Europe today.

His live shows are an eclectic mix of boogie woogie, blues and hot rock¹n¹roll, and his trademark energy, emotion and sheer enjoyment is evident from the start. A Weymouth boy who woke up one morning at the age of 14 to discover he could play the piano, Ben Waters has travelled the world and played alongside some of the great music legends of all time including Shakin' Stevens, Mick Jagger, Ray Davies, Chuck Berry and many others. Having returned to his native Dorset after ten years working from London, he is delighted to be playing at Lulworth Castle supporting the Blues Band, who have been one of his greatest inspirations.

And you could not find a better setting for an open air concert, than LULWORTH CASTLE with views of the sea, the Purbeck Hills and the surrounding parkland.

Bring a picnic, bring your friends, enjoy ...
