Stair Hole - Geology
The sea has exploited weak points in the massive Portland stone, creating caves, arches, stacks and blowholes. Embryonic coves coves are now forming in the lee of this natural defence. If you look carefully you can see arches similar to Durdle Door beginning to form, but whether these will survive remains to be seen.
